Woman Calls 911 For Attention, Faces Charges: St. Pete Police
A transient woman was charged with making a false 911 call after calling 911 because she likes the attention, St. Pete police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A transient woman faces charges after calling 911 Monday afternoon for attention, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department arrest affidavit.
Nancy Duckworth, 61, was charged with making a false 911 call, which is a misdemeanor.
Duckworth dialed 911 around 12:30 p.m. to report a traumatic injury, the affidavit said.

When St. Petersburg Fire Rescue arrived at where Duckworth was located in the 100 block of 6th Avenue South, she told responders that “nothing was wrong with her,” according to the affidavit.
She said she called 911 frequently, though she didn’t need assistance from police or fire rescue.

She later told officers, “I did not need help,” adding, “I call sometimes because (I) like the attention I get.”
