Woman Pinned Under PSTA Bus Hospitalized: St. Pete Police

A woman is being treated for life-threatening injuries after being hit by and pinned under a public bus, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being hit by and pinned under a public bus on Wednesday morning, according to a St. Petersburg police news release.

Denise Rozwarski, 58, was hit by a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus heading west on 1st Avenue North as it made a left turn south onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, police said. There were no passengers on the bus.

She was standing on the west side of Dr. MLK Street N., just south of the intersection, at the time of the crash.

Rozwarski, who wasn’t in the crosswalk, stepped out from the curb before being hit by the PSTA bus, police said.

St. Pete Fire Rescue extricated her from underneath the bus and brought her to Bayfront Health.

The driver wasn’t injured in the crash and remained on the scene to cooperate with the investigation.
