1. FSU, TMH Finalize Agreements Following Controversial Transfer of City Hospital Assets (tallahasseereports.com) — FSU and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare have finalized agreements that cement their new academic health system, following the earlier transfer of the city-owned hospital property to FSU. TMH will keep running Tallahassee Memorial Hospital while FSU commits more than a billion dollars over 30 years, promising expanded services, research, jobs, and new facilities that could significantly reshape healthcare access in Tallahassee and North Florida.
2. Plans now on pause of Welaunee Arch development in northeast Tallahassee (wctv.tv) — A massive 1,200-acre Welaunee Arch development in northeast Tallahassee, which could eventually allow more than 6,500 homes and extensive commercial space, is now on hold until at least 2027. After residents raised concerns, the developer requested a continuance to allow community meetings, likely starting around November, with Roberts Elementary mentioned as a possible evening meeting site.
3. Tallahassee protesters rally outside Chile and Chili's food truck after ICE detainment of three employees (wctv.tv) — Hundreds of Tallahassee residents rallied outside the Chile and Chili's food truck on West Tennessee Street after three employees were detained by federal immigration authorities and the business announced it was closing the truck. Supporters shared how much the longtime local favorite means to them, while the owner said he's pausing operations to protect workers and consider safer ways to keep the business going.
4. The Tallahassee Ballet Joins The Nutcracker in Key West (talchamber.com) — Tallahassee residents can look forward to The Tallahassee Ballet's 40th anniversary Nutcracker at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall on December 19–20, following a special guest run in Key West. Seventeen professional dancers will juggle two distinct productions, showcasing Tallahassee-grown talent on another Florida stage before bringing that experience back home for multiple local performances and school shows.
5. Jayme Miller's comeback gives undefeated Florida High a boost (tallahassee.com) — Florida High's undefeated football season just got a boost as quarterback Jayme Miller returned from a serious foot injury, a story followed closely by the Tallahassee Democrat. After months of rehab, he stepped back under center in Week 6, helping keep the Seminoles perfect while reinforcing his role as a key leader for one of the Big Bend's top teams.
