2 Dead in Fiery Tarpon Springs Crash

The single-car crash occurred Sunday afternoon.

The Tarpon Springs Police Department is investigating a Sunday afternoon car crash that has left two people dead.

According to police, Officer John Gibson and a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy came across a vehicle on fire around 3:28 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Beckett Way. The two law enforcement officers attempted to put out the flames, but were unable to do so.

The officers pulled a woman from the wreckage, but could not free aΒ male who was in the driver’s seat, an email to media from the police department stated.
