• Local maritime businesses refurbish and upgrade Tampa Bay ferry boats (fox13news.com) — Two Tampa Bay ferry boats are being refurbished right now at Tarpon Springs Marine Services, bringing a sizable marine project and related business to town. Crews are overhauling interiors, decks and mechanics so the Bay Breeze and Bay Clipper can soon carry hundreds of passengers, highlighting Tarpon Springs' maritime expertise and keeping federal grant-funded work in the local economy.
   

• Summerfield driver merging onto I-75 crashes into boat and trailer on Labor Day (villages-news.com) — A 66-year-old Tarpon Springs man towing a boat on I-75 was hit when a Summerfield driver failed to handle a curve on the Blanton Road entrance ramp, knocking the boat off its trailer. The vessel skidded along the highway in Pasco County, but fortunately no injuries were reported as troopers continue investigating the Labor Day crash.
