Senator Mike Fasano Calls Upon the Florida Cabinet to Hold Citizens Accountable for Huge Expenditures

State Senator Mike Fasano has sent letters to each member of the Florida Cabinet asking them to call executives of Citizens Property Insurance Company before that body to explain huge expenditures for travel, lodging and dining.  These well documented expenses were incurred as Citizens sought large rate increases all while reducing coverage and taking away mitigation credits from its customers.

“Citizens’ top executives and board members have been shameless in the way they lavishly spend tax dollars on travel and related expenses,” states Senator Fasano.  “While crying poor mouth they stay in posh hotels, eat expensive meals, and engage in international travel.  While so many of their customers are struggling to cut their personal budgets so they can pay their ever increasing premiums, Citizens’ higher-ups are living high on the hog on the public dime.”

In his letters Senator Fasano asks the Florida Cabinet to compel the leaders of Citizens to justify their lavish spending practices.
