Senator Mike Fasano Requests Governor Scott’s Intervention with Citizens Property Insurance Corporation
State Senator Mike Fasano has sent the attached letter to Governor Rick Scott asking him to appoint Florida’s inspector General to investigate the recent terminations at Citizens Office of Corporate Integrity. Additionally, Senator Fasano is requesting that the lavish overseas travel and meals expenses be investigated as well. The company has been mired in controversy at a time when Florida’s largest insurer was seeking large premium increases all while reducing coverage and benefits to its policyholders.
“I am shocked by the action of cleaning out this office because it does little to shed light on how the people who took the trips and meals were allowed to do so without the scrutiny that quasi-governmental officials should have been given,” Senator Fasano states. “The Office of Corporate Integrity should be the watchdog, not the scapegoat.”
Senator Fasano is working with consumer organizations and other interested parties to bring to light what has been occurring at Citizens. Too many Floridians rely on Citizens as their insurance company for these serious issues to go unaddressed. It is Senator Fasano’s hope that the governor and other interested parties will act swiftly to set the ship which is Citizens Property Insurance Corporation aright.
