My Offering to Tarpon Government: Leadership Experience
City Commission candidate Jim Bouldin's offering to city government: Leadership experience

I would like to first thank our local Patch Publication for the invitation to post an occasional campaign update or two as we reach the final stages of this local election.
Truth is, since there is only one issue on the ballot βelecting a City Commissioner for the open Seat 4β this election needs as much publicity as it can get and by any possible communication tool.
Enter Patch, in my opinion a great social media tool that is both timely and relevant. And as a former newspaper type I can tell you itβs a great companion to the printed word. Urge your friends to try it.

I was approached by a concerned Tarponite following the recent candidateβs forum sponsored by the dynamic members of the Tarpon Springs Rotary Club. This individual honored me by pledging his vote to me, but what really struck me was the reasoning behind his decision.
βAnyone can talk a good game,β he said, βbut youβve got my vote because of your accomplishments.β He followed that flattering remark with a pat on the back as he went on his merry way.

βWow, I told my wife, Patty, can you believe that guy? What a kind gesture,β I added.
Then my wife of nearly 40 years added to my uplifted mood by telling me she was not at all surprised at his remark. βJim, you have devoted most of your life to serving others and bringing people together. He just listened to your introduction speech and was impressed with your leadership abilities,β she said.
After savoring a pretty good buzz after all this I settled back down to Earth and put this experience in its proper perspective. I realize that after some 30 years of raising a family, running various newspaper operations and volunteering in every community along the way, I am blessed to have worked with and for some pretty wonderful people.
And I believe the culmination of these experiences is what defines our character and our true contribution to society.
So, I guess an honest assessment of my past achievements has led me to believe that a good City Commissioner should not only possess a passionate desire to serve others, but should also have the proven leadership skills to get the job done.
I have both. And if enough of you out there agree, Iβll look forward to being a hard-working servant for the people of Tarpon Springs.
