Sustainable Tarpon Springs - A Dream
An invitation to be part of a 'Conversation and Action Network' of friendly folks with a vision to see a 'greener' and more Sustainable Tarpon Springs.
Dreams are the substance of reality.Β Nothing can begin without a dream or a vision to guide it.Β Dreams are our inspiration, they guide our choices and the direction of our actions.Β Dreams are limitless when we arenβt afraid to DREAM BIG!Β So, what would your dream for a Sustainable Tarpon Springs look like?Β Here are some of mine:
Β
β’ Β Think about βedible landscapesβ - rather than purely decorative gardens, public places where organic fruit grows for ANYONE to pick to satisfy hunger or a nutritional βpick-me-up!β

Β
β’Β Β Think about spreading the good word about rain barrels and water cisterns, so plenty of free water is available for watering gardens in the dry months.

Β
β’ Β Β Think of homes where gray water systems are the norm, reusing the βsingle-useβ water from dishwashing, bathing, or doing laundry to constantly increasing the moisture in the garden without constantly watering! (Biodegradable soaps only, please.)
Β
β’Β Β Think about an area where we all value the beauty of the bayous so much, we control or eliminate plastic bags that clog the waterways and the creatures that depend on them.
Β
β’Β Β Think about working together on a thriving organic community garden for the Tarpon Sunday Market - and to assist those who are in need.
Β
β’Β Β Think about lots of our energy coming from solar or wind spires that are both inspirational and beautiful!
Β
Potential for dreams to manifest is unlimited when those dreams are shared!Β And there are good things happening all around us here in Tarpon Springs.Β To share vision and info, there are a couple of gatherings Iβd like to point out this weekend, not right in our fair city, but in neighboring areas. Β
Β
Saturday, Sept. 22nd, 10 to 5 is the Healthy Happy Family Expo in Dunedin -750 San Salvador Dr. (Our Lady of Lourdes campus).
Β
At 6 PM, Suncoast Co-op is sponsoring a Growerβs Social Potluck at 6410 River Road, New Port Richey.Β This event is for growers and people interested in becoming growers in the local market, including cottage industries.Β They ask us to bring a side dish for the pot-luck as well as our own silverware/drinks/plates and extras. They will discuss how to help one another grow food over the coming season and how to cooperate our efforts. If you have extra seeds or plants feel free to bring for a seed/plant swap.
Β
If any of these dreams inspire YOU, itβs because you are needed - as much as something in you is longing to be fulfilled.Β I hope our paths will cross!
