City Shuts Down Reclaimed Water Service

A supply shortage is to blame for the outage that may last through May 30.

Tarpon Springs residents who use the city’s reclaimed water supply to irrigate their lawns are likely gong to have skip sprinkling for a little while.

The city announced early May 29 that a shortage in supply was forcing it to shut down reclaimed water services until sometime Thursday at the earliest.

When reclaimed water service will come back online exactly remains unclear, said Judy Staley, city spokeswoman.

“It will depend on the supply levels in the tanks and how quickly they can be build back up (and how much rain we get),” she said.

Staley stressed the need for residents to conserve water year-round, but especially when rainfall levels are low.
