'Copious Amounts of Child Pornography' Found During Traffic Stop

Tampa Police say the Tarpon Springs man had graphic images of children as young as 2 in his possession.

TAMPA, FL β€” A 30-year-old Tarpon Springs man faces 100 counts of possession of child pornography after the Tampa Police Department concluded an investigation into his activities.

According to Tampa police, Justin D. Murdock caught investigators’ attention following a Dec. 27 traffic stop for an expired tag. During that stop, police found marijuana inside Murdock’s vehicle and several electronic devices. Murdock was charged with marijuana possession at that time and an investigation into the contents of the electronic devices was launched.

When police received a search warrant to look into the electronic devices, Murdock’s tablet was β€œfound to contain copious amounts of child pornography depicting children as young as 2 years old engaged in sexual acts,” an email from the police department stated.

Murdock was arrested at his Fox Run Drive home in Tarpon Springs Tuesday by Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies. He was being held in the Pinellas County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $100,000 bond.
