Crypto Scare Closes Tarpon Springs Splash Park
The facilities are expected to reopen Aug. 9.

Tarpon Springs Splash Park is closed for business for a few days while the water supply gets a good cleaning out.
Thatβs after the Pinellas County Health Department let the city know that three have been three cases of cryptosporidium reported by those who visited the newly opened park back in July, according to WTSP.
While the 508 Live Oak St. park closed down Aug. 1 for treatment of the water, the city is repeating the undertaking just to be safe, it reported on its Facebook page.

Cryptosporidium βis one of the most frequent causes of waterborne disease among humans in the United States,β according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The parasite causes fever, stomach pains and vomiting, among other symptoms. It is commonly spread through recreational and drinking water.
The park should reopen at 10 a.m. Aug. 9, according to the cityβs Facebook page.
