Hit-And-Run Driver Left Injured Passenger Behind
The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the person responsible for a serious crash that closed Belcher Road for several hours.

Update Aug. 5, 9:20 a.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the registered owner of the Chrysler as Christopher Frank Dohmen, 24, of Palm Harbor. He is considered a person of interest in the investigation.

The driver of a Chrysler 300 the Florida Highway Patrol says caused a serious crash Monday on Belcher Road at Alderman is still on the loose while trooper seek answers.

The crash occurred around 8:37 p.m. as the Chrysler was traveling south on Belcher north of Alderman at a high rate of speed, a highway patrol media release said. As that car was heading south, a Nissan Altima driven by Nicolas Diamantidis, 62, of Merrick, N.Y., was heading north. When the Chrysler crossed into the intersection of Belcher and Alderman, the driver lost control and sideswiped the Altima, the release said.
The Chrysler then struck a curb, hit a Duke Energy light pole and overturned, ejecting passenger Ashley Love, 25, of Largo.

Love suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Josephβs Hospital, the release said. The driver of the car Love was in, however, fled the scene on foot.
The passengers in Diamantidisβ car all suffered minor injuries and were taken to Florida Hospital, the release said. They are Anna Diamantidis, 57, and Maria Eskanazy, 62, of Tarpon Springs. Nicolas also suffered minor injuries.
The roadway didnβt reopen to traffic until 5:13 a.m. Tuesday.

Sgt. Steve Gaskins said Love has not provided the name of the driver. She is currently listed in stable condition.
