Tarpon Springs Man Arrested Following Shooting

Tarpon Springs Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for attempted murder following a shooting on Wednesday.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL -- Tarpon Springs Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for attempted murder following a shooting on Wednesday.

The shooting occurred on Feb. 13 in the 400 block of East Oakwood Street. Detectives say Dureck Lemont Richardson of Tarpon Springs shot at a person he knew. The two had a previous dispute.

Richardson was wearing an ankle monitor with GPS but did not have any court-ordered restrictions. The GPS information helped detectives identify Richardson as the shooter.

Richardson was taken into custody by the department’s SWAT team in the area of North Avenue and Harrison Street around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
