The following is a news release from the Tarpon Springs Police Department:Â
On January 29, 2014 at approximately 9:49 am our dispatch center began to receive calls regarding a cow running southbound (along the eastside grass edge) next to US 19 just north of Tarpon Ave.
The cow (Red in color calf) turned eastbound and ran down Tarpon Ave where officers worked with the owner and other individuals who corralled the cow and were able to make a safe capture. The owner advised that a total of 3 cows had broken out of their pen on his farm located on N. Jasmine (north of Tarpon Ave) he was able to immediately capture one, and this now made two but one was still on the loose.
An officer spotted the 3rd cow (Black in color calf) in a wooded area (Rear of North Lake Townhomes) near where the Red Cow was captured. The owner, officers and other individuals were able to safely capture this cow as well. All were captured safely within an hour!
