Tarpon Springs Rec Dept Offers Sports Programs
Tarpon Springs will be offering sports program and classes for the members of the community who would like to be more active.

From Tarpon Springs Rec Division: Tarpon Springs Recreational Division will be offering classes to the community starting in January.
- Hip Hop/Modern Jazz Dance Classes
- Registration: Thursday, January 26th, 2017 from
- 6:00pm-7:30pm at Tarpon Springs Community Center
- Classes: Classes begin Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 at Craig Park Recreation
- Times: 6:00 pm- 6:45 pm Ages 5 thru 8 / 7:00 pm – 7:45 pm Ages 9 and up
- AGE: 5-18
- Instructor: All American Youth Group
Come learn the elements of hip hop and jazz to the latest hits. These classes improve movement, coordination, rhythm, timing, and teamwork. Classes are taught in a fun, relaxed, musical atmosphere. There will be a non-refundable registration fee of $15.00. Classes are $7.00 per week. If you miss registration, you can still join after classes have started.

- Time of Registration: 6:00pm-7:30pm
- Classes: Begin Friday, February 3rd, 2017 at Craig Park
- Time of Classes: 6:00pm -6:45pm for ages 5-8 / 7:00pm-7:45pm for ages 9and up
- Ages: 5 and up
This class teaches the fundamentals of cheerleading. The class will teach jumps, routines, and many other friends. There will be a non-refundable registration fee of $15.00. Classes are $7.00 per week. If you miss registration you can still join on a later date.

North Pinellas County Track Program
Tarpon Springs Recreation will be participating in the North Pinellas County Track Program. The cities of Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Largo, Palm Harbor, Pinellas Park, and Safety Harbor have combined to form the North Pinellas City Track Program. This program helps kids focus on self-improvement and challenge yourself at local track meets. Excellent fitness and conditioning for athletes. This program is for kids ages 5-15 and a wheelchair division is available. Practices will take place on Wednesday starting January 18th. Kids who participate in the league will get to travel throughout the county and participate in track meets. Track meets will be held the 1st Wednesday of the month in participating cities. Fee is $25 a month with a recreation card or $30 without a recreation card.

Silver Sneakers Program
Tarpon springs recreation division and snap fitness have teamed together and would like to present our new silver sneakers program. This silver sneakers program is a strength and balance course. This class is a low-impact class designed to help you improve flexibility and balance while increasing muscular endurance. Strength exercises may include lifting hand- held weights, stretching resistive tubing and using your own body’s resistance while also using your core muscles to improve balance and stability. Please bring small hand weights (5lbs) and resistance band. Classes meet Wednesdays at 10:00AM. Fee is free for silver sneak members or $3 for non-members. Karate and Ju Jitsu
The Tarpon Springs Recreation Division presents Kenjutai Goshin Ryu Kempo Karate and Japanese Aiki Ju Jitsu. This program involves a complete Japanese system of self-defense. The program uses different techniques to teach the mind, body and spirit. The cost is $50 a month for participants who have a Tarpon Springs recreation card and $53.21 for non-residents.
Classes will be held Monday and Wednesday 7:00PM-9:00PM and Tuesdays 7:30PM-8:30PM. Classes are located at Craig Park Recreation Center. For more information please call 727-942-5628 or email rhiggins@ctsfl.us.
