Update: Woman Shot By Tarpon Springs Officer Identified
A Tarpon Springs woman has been shot and killed by a Tarpon Springs Police officer after reportedly charging the officer with a knife.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL – A Raleigh, North Carolina, woman has been shot and killed by a Tarpon Springs Police officer after reportedly charging the officer with a knife.
Police say they received a call at about 10:05 a.m. Friday, March 9, of a disturbance at 442 Riverside Drive.
Two officers, Cpl. Clyde Thompson and Officer Matt Greer, arrived and encountered Alkeeta Allena Walker, 31, who was brandishing two knives. She began to charge at the officers. One used a taser to try to stop her but she kept coming toward them.

While backing away from Walker, Greer, a 12-year veterans of the police department, fell and hit his head. Walker rushed toward him with the knives and Greer fired his .45-caliber firearm twice at her in self defense.
Officers on the scene began life-saving measures including CPR until paramedics arrived.

Walker was transported to Florida Hospital-North Pinellas where she was pronounced dead at 10:58 a.m.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into the shooting. Greer has been placed on administrative leave according to department policy.
A video taken from Office Jacob Hollingsworth's patrol car shows Walker attacking the officers with the knives, which were recovered at the scene.
