9-11 A Day to Honor and Remember

It almost doesn't seem possible that it's been this long since the attacks of September 11, 2001. "Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children." - President George W. Bush, November 11, 2001.

Today, I am writing you to remember.

As a way to remember and pay tribute to the victims of 9/11, honor those that rose in service in response to the attacks, and remind people of the importance of working more closely together to improve our community, our Nation and the world, I urge you to join the hundreds of thousands in a day of Service and Remembrance this September 11th.

By taking a minute of your time at 9:11 A.M to reflect on the events of that day, or say a prayer to honor and remember you will ensure that we haven’t forgotten.  We must remember that September 11th was a tragic day in our history, but it was also a day of great heroism and compassion that reflects our Nation’s true character and strength.  Take a minute at 9:11 and remember.

Good deeds unite us through positive action, if you can find time this Wednesday volunteer to help others, visit the sick, or do any other good deed you deem appropriate as we remember the significant loss of that day.

The September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance is the culmination of an effort originally launched in 2002 by 9/11 family members and support groups. It became officially recognized following the passage of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act of April 2009.

Today, individuals can honor the victims of 9/11 and the many who rose in service in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks by participating in activities of tribute, solemn remembrance, and charitable service on the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance.  I invite you to serve, honor, and remember them on this historic day
