More Than 1,000 Volunteers 'Paint the Town'

More than 1,000 volunteers from businesses, government agencies, religious groups, service clubs and student organizations came together in January at the inaugural “Paint the Town” event. Volunteers took on projects
such as painting, mowing, clearing debris and picking up garbage. The 4-square mile University Area Community is home to more than 30,000 at-risk and poverty-stricken residents.

The event launched the University Area Community Development Corporation's 2013 "Make it Happen!" campaign focused on building public and private partnerships with a coalition of agencies, government officials, private citizens, businesses, law enforcement and area residents.

The event was coordinated by the University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc. and
sponsored by PNC Bank.
