TTGA Compete in the 25th Anniversary of the Gasparilla International Gymnastics Meet

The 25^th Annual Gasparilla Classic International Gymnastics meet took place at the Tropicana Field Stadium(Home of the Tampa Bay Rays) in St. Petersburg on March 1-3.  The Gasparilla Classic is one of the largest gymnastics meets held in the United States.  This International meet included Women’s and Men’s gymnastics.  There were approximately 2,900 gymnasts - which 2,200 were female and 700 male.  The competing teams represented 21 States and 6 other Countries; the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico, and Venezuela. 

Our local gymnastics team (Temple Terrace Gymnastics Academy – TTGA) was one of the teams that participated.  There were 14 members of the team that competed.  TTGA’s Level 4 had 9 members participate, Level 5 had 4 members, and Prep Optional Novice had 1 member. 

There were some tough competition considerng the vast amount of gymnasts, but overall individually and as a team they did exceptionally well.  The Level 4 did not place as a team, but everyone did receive a medal in at least one or more of the events (vault, beam, bars, floor, and all around).  There were 5 team members that received a trophy for scoring in the top 3 in the All Around category.  The Level 5 team also brought home an additional trophy for 3^rd place on Small Team.
