Armed Intruder Prompts Evacuation at USF
The university is asking people to avoid the USF Health area.
Update 5 p.m. Sept. 20: Police at the University of South Florida have completed a sweep of the area, according to an alert on the school's website. The area was cleared, and no armed intruder was found.
Update 3:10 p.m. Sept. 20: The University of South Florida Police Department is working with Tampa Police to evacuate buildings in the USF Health area.

According to the school’s website, the armed person was seen in the area of USF Health.
“Remain alert. Avoid area. Follow police instructions,” the alert states.
