Assistant Fire Chief Earns National Designation
Ian Kemp has been awarded a Chief Fire Officer title.

This August, Temple Terrace Assistant Fire Chief Ian Kemp will travel to Chicago to be recognized as a Chief Fire Officer, a national designation.
The Commission on Professional Credentialing has awarded Kemp the title based on “exceptional leadership and management skills in fire service, as measured by the Virginia-based Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc.,” according to a press release from the City of Temple Terrace.
Kemp, 49, will be recognized during the organization’s annual conference this August in Chicago, the release states.

To become a Chief Fire Officer, Kemp was required to present a detailed portfolio of qualifications, certifications, transcripts, and personal testimonials and recommendations, according to the release. The CFO designation assures a community its fire professionals have the educational and technical competencies necessary to meet the demands of today’s environment.
“I feel both privileged and honored to receive this designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence,” Kemp said in the release. “I am very passionate about serving the citizens of Temple Terrace and believe that by participating in this process, and earning the CFO, I am better prepared to serve our community.”

Kemp was hired as Temple Terrace’s assistant fire chief in 2007, the release states. He arrived from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, where he was a battalion chief.
“Chief Kemp is very deserving of the CFO designation,” said Temple Terrace Fire Chief Keith Chapman in the release. “This is a great accomplishment that demonstrates his leadership and commitment to excellence. The Fire Department is privileged to have him as an assistant chief.”
