Attempted Murder Under Investigation

A Temple Terrace resident was injured in an armed robbery attempt.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL — The Temple Terrace Police Department is investigating a Sunday night attempted robbery that ended up with shots fired.

According to the agency, two men tried to rob a home in the 5200 block of Serena Drive just before 11 p.m. The resident told police he was unloading groceries outside his home when the suspects grabbed him and one pointed a silver handgun at him.

The victim, an email from the police department said, grabbed the suspect’s gun in a struggle. The victim then pulled out his own firearm and exchanged gunfire with the suspects, the email said. The two men took off on foot and the victim, who has not yet been identified, suffered minor injuries.

It is unclear if either of the suspects suffered injuries in the exchange, police said.

The suspects are both described as black males. One stands between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet in height. He weighs an estimated 150 pounds and was wearing a black beanie, dark jacket, black shirt and black pants at the time of the crime. He was also armed with a silver handgun.

The second suspect is between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches in height. He also weighs an estimated 150 pounds and was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
