Anna Gavin- A Most Refreshing Volcano

Meet Local Singer/Songwriter Anna Gavin

When a female performing artist combines anger, strength, sweetness and femininity, she is a volcano with which to be reckoned.

Singer/songwriter Anna Gavin is just such a woman. This Florida native has been a
well-known fixture on the Tampa music scene for the past five years. First as
the lead singer of a local band and now as a solo artist.

The first time I heard about Anna Gavin was from Dylan Conway, a guitarist I met at an Open Mic at Café’ Kili in Temple Terrace. He said that I should “definitely go
listen to Anna live”. Then he emailed me a link to her YouTube page. As soon as
I heard her “Jolene” cover I knew I had to listen to the rest of her other material and hear her live.

Tracking her down was the issue. There was no contact information on her YouTube site and I couldn’t find her on Facebook. This is another reason why I
really want to help independent artists with their promotional material. What
if it had been a major label or big booking?

One night I was supposed to go to an Open Mic at one venue but the website had the date wrong. So I ended up at Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse. I walked in and there she was on the stage just beginning her set. And she sounded better than her videos and her stage presence and personality was even more inviting.

I watched her work the room and she had a big fan base and seemed in real tight with the owner, Karen, a sign that she had the respect of her fellow musicians.

Finally I went up to her as she was leaving and I explained who I was and that I knew she was recording and I wanted to make sure she was protecting her songs.

So we ended up setting a meeting at her house to chat about the biz. Instead, we
ended up at Starbucks in Plant City because there was a storm and a tree had
blown over in her yard.

She walked in to Starbucks and we talked and talked for hours and it ended with a
mini-concert on her acoustic guitar under the umbrella on the patio outside
Starbucks. That was the highlight of my week!

With Anna, what you see is what you get. There is no stage persona. Only honesty about who she is and how she expresses herself. In a world of lip syncing, fake boobs and contrived personalities, Anna Gavin is a most refreshing volcano.

It won’t be long before you come to truly appreciate this up and coming young artist from the Tampa Bay area. She is finishing up her album in December and planning to play out a lot over the next few months. Friend Anna Gavin on Facebook so you can keep informed of her music schedule.

She also has a page on the GLEEMOMS website. If you are interested in booking her, and you should be, please contact me.
