It Takes Two to Tango
Do you ever miss the perfect opportunity to make your child happy by becoming overwhelmed with everyday "life" activities?
Do you love to dance? Are you the first one on the dance floor at a wedding or at a gathering with friends? Maybe you would just rather watch "Dancing with the Stars" on TV?
Well, just recently, my husband turned on the radio and we all began our chores. (You know, the cooking and cleaning etc.?) So there I am after a hard day’s work continuing to press on and take care of family obligations when my son walks up to me and takes my hand and says, “Mommy, come dance with me?” My reaction (after all, I am cooking and cleaning, remember?) is, “It’s OK, honey, you go dance.”
That’s when a weird notion overcame me. I stopped what I was doing, walked into the living room, turned the music up louder and told my son, ”It takes two to tango.” And the 5 minute dance crazy was on. Was I tired and worn out? You bet-cha!

Then, after the song was over, he gave me the biggest hug and said, “Thanks mommy, I know you were busy.” That five minutes and statement was one of the best moments in my life.
So when the “music” is on, and opportunity presents itself, remember, “It takes two to tango.” Children often ask for “things” but seldom ask for our “time.” When they do, and it’s at all possible, we as parents can take that moment to “dance!”
