Teacher Appreciation Week
It's Teacher Appreciation Week. Have you told your child's teacher what you are thankful for?

Do you appreciate your child’s teacher and all that they do? I have reflected on the many hats that my son’s teacher wears on a daily basis and this is a few things that I have found to be thankful for.
I am thankful for the academic element that the teacher provides each day with 15+ children trying to distract her by asking things such as “Why can’t we watch TV?” and “My mommy doesn’t do it like that.”
I am thankful for the 12 pairs of shoes she ties each day (none of which are her own.)

I am thankful for the way she reminds the children that zippers on their pants are to be in the up position after using the restroom.
I am thankful for the way she handles the many playground arguments about whether or not Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy exist.

I am thankful for the way she is able to discern the difference between the true tummy ache and the “I just want to go home and play my new video game with my dad” tummy ache.
I am thankful for the way she is able to embrace each child’s personality (even the most head strong) and lead them in a way that they are able to grow educationally.
I am thankful to know that she hates giving out homework just as much as parents and students hate to receive it, however she does so knowing it’s in the best interest of the children and that it will also strengthen the family unit.
These are just a few things that I personally am thankful for. Many times we tend to forget that teachers are way more than just teachers. They themselves are students, continuously learning--learning about our kids, learning about their curriculum, learning how to work with parents who they don’t see often. They also serve as maids, guidance counselors, playmates, mentors and much, much more.
So please, if you do anything this week, take a moment to say "THANK YOU" to your child’s teacher. It can go a long way!
