The 'And Then' Stage
My son has entered a stage in which he always seems to ask "And then?"
Ever feel like you would be lost without your calendar? There are only so many things a person can jam into a day. Without the ability to organize via a calendar of some sort, I would be totally lost.
After a full day’s activity (and reflecting on my calendar 100 times during the day), I pick up my son from school and the first thing he says is “Mommy, where are we going?” to which I reply “home.” And then…..(no, that’s what he says… ) “AND THEN.” I’m thinking “and then NOTHING,” but it seems as the “AND THEN” never goes away.
Just when I thought I was finally finished with the “Why?” stage (you know the one….Why is the car on? Why is the grass green? Why can’t we go to McDonald’s even though we just ate?), now I’ve entered the “AND THEN” stage.

It’s funny how kids really don’t care about the 100 things that were on your calendar….they are only interested in the here and now. So after gaining my composure from being asked “and then” 5 times before we got home, I walked into the house to find myself asking my husband what his plans were for the evening….when in turn my son says to him “And then?” (I almost felt guilty. –smirk-)
