I am not a politician, nor do I wish to be one. How do I know this? Well, there are many reasons. Today’s reason is because debating is not my forte. Nope, it’s not something I enjoy nor do I look forward to it.
With that said, why is it that I’m constantly in a debate with my 5 year old? And yes, he feels just as strongly about things as I do. My son thinks he has become so intelligent now that he has entered kindergarten and feels that he knows it all.
For instance, he will ask a question such as, “Why are there red lights.” Me, being the type of mother who tries to explain everything in simple terms begins to explain why. The answer I then get in return. “No, that’s not why…it’s because….” (and then the incorrect answer is muttered from his mouth.) So, once again while trying to correct his thinking, I try to provide a different reasoning to which he will answer again, “No that’s not why either.” (You guessed it, he will then provide an off-the- wall comment that again is not correct.) Does the child get enjoyment out of this? Because 4 more questions into the conversation and I’m ready to banish all red lights in society just because he
has started a debate over their existence.

But wait, that’s not all folks….the debates do not end there, they are constant….along with his strong will to be correct. (Which makes me wonder, if he already “knows” the answer….why ask?) HA!
Yep…..I would make a poor politician, as debating is brutal.
