What to Wear for a Photo Shoot
Here are some tips on choosing the right clothes to be photographed in.

It’s picture day and you don’t know what to wear. Your closet is filled with clothes, yet nothing seems to be appropriate or fit right. Where do you begin?
First, know your destination. This will help in choosing clothing and colors. For instance, you wouldn’t necessarily wear a turtleneck and jeans when taking photos on the beach at sunset. You may opt for the perfect summer dress or nice shirt with khakis to reflect the simplicity of nature. Or, when at the beach playing in the sand and ocean, you may want to grab the more colorful swimsuits for a nice splash of color.
For destinations such as a studio shoot, you would want to shy away from articles of clothing that have writing, large stripes or that are extremely busy. These types of items detract from a person’s face and place more emphasis on the individual’s wardrobe.

As far as color is concerned, there are two things to keep in mind. First: Where will you be displaying your finished photo? For example, if you wish to hang a large family portrait in your living room, consider the colors that would be complementary. Second: some colors appear harsher than others on camera and can be considered dominant, such as reds, greens and blues. These colors can be acceptable, however they may tend to be a focal point in a photo.
As far as the right fit is concerned, this can depend much on you. When you feel attractive, you generally look attractive. However, if you question the fit, color and comfort of your outfit, this can be reflected negatively in a photograph. So, when choosing an outfit, consider how you feel when wearing it.
