The Tampa area was still reeling Saturday morning from the news that Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend Lee Roy Selmon, 56, was gravely ill following a stroke, TBO.com reports.
Selmon, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who served as the University of South Florida's athletic director from 2001-04, was listed in critical condition at St. Joseph Hospital early Saturday, according to media reports.
A statement Friday afternoon from Lee Roy Selmon's Restaurant had indicated Selmon had passed away, but that statement was later retracted and said to have been "prematurely released."
