John Feiga, 21, of Tampa, was traveling westbound on Fowler Avenue around 2:17 a.m. when Baylies, who was traveling east on Fowler, attempted to make a left turn onto Raintree Boulevard. Feiga’s gray Honda Accord struck Baylies’ vehicle on the passenger side, police said. Both vehicles were destroyed.

Feiga was transported to Tampa General Hospital. His condition is not known at this time, Dunn said.

Two of the three lanes on the westbound side of Fowler were closed for several hours while police investigated the accident scene. One lane is still closed while police continue taking measurements, Dunn said. He was unsure when all three lanes would reopen.

At this time, there is no indication that alcohol was a factor in the fatal accident, however the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, Pauley said.
