Deputies: Teen Brought Gun to King High Campus

The 16-year-old was arrested after an anonymous tip was received.

A King High School student faces criminal charges after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say he brought a gun on campus Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, the school resource deputy received an anonymous tip. That deputy, along with school security and administrators, responded to the student’s classroom, an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated.

A .25-caliber Taurus with two live rounds was subsequently found in the student’s backpack, the email said.

The boy, who is not being identified by Patch, was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Deputies say he was brought to the juvenile assessment center for booking.
