Disembodied Heads Out at Howl-O-Scream

In light of recent world events, Busch Gardens has altered some of its Halloween attractions.

An outcry about disembodied heads in a Busch Gardens Halloween display in Williamsburg, Va., has been heard loud and clear by the park’s counterparts in Tampa.

Busch Gardens has announced that it’s made some alterations to the upcoming Howl-O-Scream attraction, set to open Sept. 26, according to FOX News.

Tampa park spokesman Travis Claytor told the Tampa Bay Times props for this year’s haunted houses were lined up months ago, but in light of the recent beheadings of two Americans and a Briton by the terror group ISIS, the park felt some alterations needed to be made to its displays.

“Some of these props would have had the unintended consequence of appearing insensitive,” he told the Times.

This year’s Howl-O-Scream theme is “Cursed.” The park has created a number of haunted houses for the event, including “Zombie Containment Unit 15.” The after-hours attraction opens with a Freaky Preview Sept. 26-27. Regular nights are Thursdays through Saturdays until Nov. 1. For more information, visit Busch Gardens online.
