In Children of a Lesser God, a teacher (played by William Hurt) develops a relationship with a student (played by Marlee Matlin) at a school for the deaf. The film (1986, rated R) raises issues about deaf and hearing cultures, sign language, and deafness. These issues will be tackled in a discussion by a panel of experts in deafness and hearing after the movie. Registration is available by calling MOSI. USF students with USF ID are admitted free.
