Welding Sparks Ignited Trash Fire

There were no serious injuries during the Monday morning blaze.

TAMPA, FL — A Monday morning fire at a Waste Management facility was caused by sparks from workers welding on the site, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials say.

The blaze at 6210 N. 53rd St. caused one minor injury in a worker, the agency reported, but hospitalization was not required. The facility was evacuated before fire crews arrived on the scene.

As of 11:43 a.m., the fire had been suppressed, the agency noted in an email to media.
