Founder Del Diaz takes sole leadership role at general contracting firm Diaz Fritz Isabel
Scott Isabel retires from top local contracting firm, CEO Diaz adds president to his role
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (March 27, 2015) -- General contracting firm Diaz Fritz Isabel has announced a transition in its leadership, as President Scott Isabel is retiring from the firm after 27 years, while founder Delvis “Del” Diaz will continue as CEO and assume additional responsibilities as president.
Diaz now will lead both overall and day-to-day operations for Diaz Fritz Isabel, which has grown to $17 million in revenue and 18 employees. And he will continue the firm’s commitment to creating quality commercial structures in partnership with clients and subcontractors. The company completed a number of significant projects in the area, such as projects for Tampa General Hospital and Jesuit High School, and headquarters for MarineMax and PODS.
A major driver in the company’s growth has been Isabel, who joined the company, then known as The Diaz/Fritz Group, Inc., in 1988, when the company was three years old and had nine employees. He started as a field supervisor, and served as project manager, estimator, head of business development, vice president of administration, and even filled in as needed in the accounting department, before being named corporate president in 2003.
One of Isabel’s responsibilities was growing the firm’s residential custom homebuilding business starting in 1998. This initiative contributed substantial growth for the company over an eight-year period, helped in part by Southern Living magazine naming Diaz Fritz Isabel’s “Classic Southern Homes” custom homes in Wesley Chapel’s Brookside community as part of its national “Idea Homes” group in 2001. The firm shifted its focus back to commercial and healthcare structures and interior build outs in 2006.
“Scott’s knowledge of every aspect of the business has made him an incredible leader for the firm,” said Diaz, CEO of Diaz Fritz Isabel. “His strategic mindset was key to the firm weathering the recession and being positioned to thrive as the market has rebounded.”
Isabel will be semi-retired after closing out projects with Diaz Fritz Isabel over the coming months. Going forward, he plans to foster his equestrian passions as well as owners/tenant representation on a part-time basis.
“I look forward to being able to spend more time with my family, traveling and honing my equestrian passions,” said Scott Isabel. “A flexible schedule will allow me to travel to equestrian events across the country, and internationally, and to more closely manage the four highly competitive show horses that I own.”
