Girl Scouts Want You to ‘Get Fit’

The fifth annual Temple Terrace Tri It Get Fit Triathlon is right around the corner.

The youngsters from Girl Scout Troop 758 are hoping Temple Terrace residents are eager to get fit while supporting a good cause.

The fifth annual Tri It Get Fit Triathlon put on by the Scouts is right around the corner. Signups for the May 4 event are being accepted now on the event’s website.

Designed to encourage people of all ages to get fit, the event has a number of different categories:

  • Trojan Race – Meant for kids ages 5-6 this category includes a ¼-mile run, a 1-mile bike and a 25-yard swim.
  • Artemis Race – Created for ages 7 to 12, this event features a ½-mile run, 2-mile bike and 100-yard swim.
  • Gladiator Race – Meant for ages 11 through adult, this wave entails a 1-mile run, 4-mile bike and 200-yard swim.

There’s also a 1-mile walk/run for all ages. The cost to enter is $30 per person or $70 for a relay team of three. The fun walk/run has an entry fee of $20 per person.

Miracle for Megan Garrett will receive a portion of the proceeds. It is a trust meant to help cover the medical expenses for a Temple Terrace child with a health issue that requires around-the-clock care.

This year’s triathlon takes place May 4 at the Temple Terrace Family Recreation Complex. The fun begins at 7:30 a.m.
