Help Name a Baby Gorilla
Busch Gardens is letting fans decide the critter's name.

Busch Gardens delivered big news in December when its lowland gorilla Pele gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
Now, the theme park is turning to its fans to help name the critter who resides in the park’s Myombe Reserve.
The park’s Facebook followers are invited to vote online for one of three names. They are Birungi, which means bringer of good things; Bem, which means Peace; and Enzi, which means power.

While considered the “most numerous and widespread of all gorilla subspecies,” western lowland gorillas are described as critically endangered by the World Wildlife Federation. Fully grown, the creatures can stand as tall as 5.5 feet and can weigh up to 440 pounds. An exact count of this type of gorilla in the wild hasn’t been possible, the federation explains, because they are known to inhabit “some of the most dense and remote rainforests in Africa.”
