Man Charged in Temple Terrace Shooting Death

He's accused of killing a Palm Harbor woman before turning the gun on himself.

A 46-year-old Tampa man faces second-degree murder charges after Temple Terrace Police say he shot a woman in the parking lot of Terrace Sports.

Police were called to the 5311 E. Busch Blvd. entertainment venue around 1:40 p.m. Thursday after shots were fired. When officers arrived, they found Jillian Rae Boone, 21, dead and Johnny Gaston Alicea, 46, wounded.

Alicea was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment while police investigated the case.

Police discovered that Alicea and Boone had been seen talking across the street from the bowling alley around 1:30 p.m. They crossed the street shortly thereafter, an email to media stated. Once in the parking lot, Alicea is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting Boone several times. He then turned the gun on himself, the email stated.

Alecia was charged with second-degree murder in the case. He remains in the hospital in β€œcritical but stable” condition, police noted.

The relationship between Boone and Alicea remains unknown at this time. Anyone with information about shooting is asked to call the Temple Terrace Police Department at 813-989-7110.
