Motorcyclist Killed in Tampa Crash

A 49-year-old Tampa man is dead following a crash along Harney Road Monday evening.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Goff, 52, of Temple Terrace was heading east on Harney in a Mazda Tribute, preparing to turn left onto Davis Road around 5:54 p.m. At that time, Francis Penon of Tampa was heading west on Harney on a Honda motorcycle. A Ford Econoline van driven by Phillip Prevatte, 48, was stopped at the stop sign on Davis Road, facing south.

When Goff turned, he did not see Penon’s motorcycle and crashed into its left side, an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated. Penon was thrown over the hood of the van and into the intersection.

Penon was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he later died, the sheriff’s office said.

The other drivers were not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
