Man Critical After East Fowler Avenue Shooting

The suspect was reportedly riding a motorcycle and fired at the motorist.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL — Temple Terrace Police are investigating an early Monday morning shooting that has left a man in critical condition.

According to the agency, police received a call around 1:15 a.m. about shots that had been fired at a white Chrysler 200 heading west on East Fowler Avenue near North Riverhills Drive. When police arrived, they found the car crashed on the north side of Fowler. The driver, a media release said, was coherent and said he had been shot by a man on a motorcycle.

Police learned the motorcyclist followed the Chrysler’s driver for several miles before the shooting occurred. The motive remains unknown.

After the shooting, police say the motorcyclist fled south on Interstate 75. The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s or 50s. He has a long beard and gray hair. His face was covered, police say, but he was not wearing a helmet. The man was riding a street-racer type motorcycle, police noted.

The victim’s identity has not been released. Police say he is in his mid-30s and was in the area from California.
