Temple Terrace firefighters helped spread holiday cheer this week, delivering toys to "numerous" underprivileged families in town.
Assistant Fire Chief Ian Kemp tells Patch that several deliveries were made to children on both Monday and Tuesday, as a part of the "Sincerely Santa" program in partnership with Hillsborough County Schools.
Kemp, who shared the above photo with Patch from one such delivery, describes the process:
Each year, children in grades kindergarten through third grade, write a “Letter to Santa”, describing what they want most for Christmas. Teachers notate additional information including: special needs of the child, clothing sizes, and additional siblings in the home. The teacher then selects letters of the most needy children, and forward them to Sincerely Santa for processing. Santa takes over from there…
"The smiles and happiness glowing from the children’s faces is always overwhelming and rewarding beyond description," Kemp said. "Thanks to E-11’s crew for their participation with assisting Santa with distribution of needed gifts."
