Tampa Grow House Goes Up in Flames

Firefighters found about 100 mature marijuana plants inside.

For the second time in recent weeks, Tampa firefighters have uncovered a marijuana grow house while battling flames.

The latest incident unfolded Sunday just before 5 p.m. when Tampa Fire Rescue was called to a blaze at 1414 E. Annie St. Once firefighters gained entry into the home, they found an estimated 100 mature marijuana plants, an email from the agency to media stated.

While there were no injuries reported, the criminal case remains under investigation. The cause of the fire is also in question with arson investigators called out to the scene.

The fire did an estimated $10,000 in damage to the home, officials say. No arrests have been made as of yet in regard to the marijuana discovery, fire rescue reported.

In late June, a similar case unfolded at 4408 Perch St. That fire was battled by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue personnel and resulted in the recovery of more than $765,000 in marijuana weighing an estimated 306 pounds.
