Tampa Man Killed in I-75 Crash Identified
The fatal wreck happened on Fowler Avenue at the Interstate 75 on ramp early Sunday morning.

TAMPA, FL — A 35-year-old Tampa man is dead following a Sunday morning single-vehicle crash on the southbound entrance ramp to Interstate 75.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jose Luis Hernandez was heading eastbound on Fowler Avenue just before 6 a.m. in a Chrysler van. Hernandez, troopers wrote in a report, got on the southbound I-75 entrance ramp while traveling at a high rate of speed.
Hernandez was unable to negotiate the curve on the ramp, lost control and left the road, the report said. His van traveled onto the road’s east shoulder and ended up hitting a tree.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear if alcohol played a role in the crash, the report noted.
No other vehicles were involved in the wreck and there were no passengers in Hernandez’s van.
