Update: Temple Terrace Woman Injured in Fatal Pasco County Crash

A 20-year-old Temple Terrace woman is in serious condition following a fatal crash in the Zephyrhills area.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Hayley Mann of Temple Terrace was traveling northbound on Chancey, approaching County Road 54 around 2 p.m. Jan. 4 when she failed to stop for a red traffic light at the intersection. At this point, Mann's Toyota Echo drove into the path of an oncoming tow truck. The front of Mann's car collided with the left side of the tow truck.

Jolee Tarrant, 19, of Shingle Springs, Calif., the passenger in the car, died at the scene, a highway patrol report said. Mann was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where she remains in serious condition. The names of both women were withheld until their families were notified.

Martin Earl Smith, 44, of Dade City was the driver of the tow truck. He was uninjured in the crash, the report said.

The accident remains under investigation and charges are still pending.
