A fire truck blocked the street. Police officers walked slowly toward the site. Onlookers gathered and waited for the signal. Golfers wondered, what was the cause of all the attention being given just south of the first hole of the Temple Terrace golf course?
Members of the Temple Terrace Garden Club invited Fire and Police officers to a recognition ceremony on Wednesday, October 9th to recognize their daily efforts to keep our city and its citizens safe. The memorial marker clearly shows the three well known sites that shocked our country on September 11, 2001. The marker sits between three Tabebuia trees dedicated by the club in 2002. The trees and their yellow blooms that burst into color also serve as “yellow ribbons” each year.
Cheri Donohue, Club President, thanked the crowd of dignitaries and guests and reminded them that the work of our Fire and Police officers is a daily task – not just something that happened on that awful day – but something that we should never take for granted. She also recognized the generous donation of the bronze plaque and granite base by Garden of Memories.

So now, a memorial marker stands quietly to remind us , not so much of what happened, but what constantly happens in our amazing city in our beloved country.
