More than 150 runners, walkers, and families gathered at John Prince Park in Lake Worth for “The 5K for Our Community,” hosted by iTHINK Community Foundation. The event brought the community together for a morning of fitness and fun, in support of programs that benefit local children and families in need.
This year’s event marked an exciting new chapter for the Foundation, as the annual 5K was held at John Prince Park for the first time while also celebrating 10 years of iTHINK Community Foundation’s commitment to improving lives across the communities it serves. Participants of all ages took part in the scenic 3.1-mile course, with families and young children joining in the 100-yard Kids Dash.
Among the day’s most memorable moments was 82-year-old Carlos Santa-Coloma, who fulfilled a long-time goal of participating in a 5K. With the support of his wife and daughters, who pushed him along the course, Carlos crossed the finish line in celebration of his birthday, drawing cheers and applause from fellow participants.
“It was inspiring to see our community come together to support local children and families,” said Stephen Johnson, AVP Administration & Marketing at iTHINK Financial. “From first-time participants to families and individuals of all abilities, this event truly reflects the spirit of our mission. We are grateful to everyone who showed up to help us continue making a difference.”
Following the race, participants gathered at the finish line for awards and enjoyed music and food. Top finishers included Maura Short and J.M. Charles.
Proceeds from the event will directly support iTHINK Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. Funds raised will benefit key initiatives, including School Ready Days and Jingle Bells at the Branches, programs that provide essential resources, school supplies, and holiday experiences for children in need.
Visa, a valued title sponsor since 2018, continues to play an important role in supporting the success and growth of the Foundation’s annual 5K event.
