WELLINGTON, FL – International R&B star and Palm Beach Gardens resident Mark Morrison, best known for his multi-platinum hit "Return of the Mack," is making an impact beyond the music industry by giving back to local youth.
On Wednesday, August 5, Morrison hosted an annual back-to-school shopping spree for 30 children participating in the Student & Athlete Mentoring Program (S.T.A.M.P.) at The Mall at Wellington Green. The mall opened early for the students, who received new school shoes, socks and select clothing at Foot Locker and Foot Locker Kids.
For Morrison, the event reflected a deeply held belief in giving back. "To whom much is given, much is expected. I've been blessed with opportunities and success, and I believe that comes with a responsibility to pour back into the community," said Morrison. "When these young people walk into the classroom, I want them to feel prepared and empowered to be the very best they can be, knowing that their entire community is standing behind them, believing in them and cheering them on. If I can use what I've been given to make a difference in a child's life and remind them that they are seen, valued, and supported, then that's what matters."
The shopping event reflects Morrison's growing focus on mentorship, youth empowerment and community impact. His 1996 global hit "Return of the Mack" reached No. 1 in the United Kingdom and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, with more than 8 million copies sold worldwide. Morrison's music has also surpassed 1 billion Spotify streams and 1 billion TikTok views.
Mark Brown, Founder and Director of Student & Athlete Mentoring Program (S.T.A.M.P.) in West Palm Beach, said the event provided meaningful support for families preparing for the new school year. "Back-to-school expenses can put a real strain on families, so having Mark Morrison step in and provide new shoes for our students was incredibly meaningful. The kids were excited to shop, and you could see how much it meant to them to choose something new for the school year. We're truly grateful to Mark for investing in our young people and creating such a positive experience for them."
Julie Schalm, Marketing Director at The Mall at Wellington Green, said the mall was proud to create a special experience for the students. "It was wonderful to see the excitement on the kids' faces as they shopped for their new school shoes. We were proud to open the mall early and create a special experience for them. Supporting our community and creating moments that help local youth feel confident and ready for the school year is something we're very proud to be a part of."
Sandy Collier, owner of Hey, Sandy! PR & Communications in Wellington, said Morrison's commitment has always been deeply personal. "With Mr. Morrison, it has always genuinely been about the kids. He's passionate about making sure young people feel supported and know their community is behind them. From Foot Locker's management to our friends at The Buzz Agency, the mall's publicists, this truly took a village. At Hey, Sandy! we believe a community is measured by how it shows up for those who need it most, and that's exactly what happened here."
