“Painting with Beth” Inspires Creativity and Connection at La Posada

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (January 28, 2025) — Art has a way of bringing people together at any stage of life, proving it’s never too late to learn something new and challenge your creativity. La Posada, a Kisco Senior Living community, is celebrating one of its most beloved and long-standing programs, Painting with Beth, a weekly art class that has transformed Mondays into more than just the start of the week, but a day filled with creativity, community, and self-expression.

The resident-favorite Painting with Beth program invites seniors to explore color, imagination, and connection in a warm, welcoming environment that nurtures both the mind and the heart. Now in its third year at La Posada, the class has become a cherished part of weekly life for many residents. Each Monday art instructor, Beth Williams, brings her passion for art and encouraging teaching style to residents in Independent Living and Assisted Living, with Memory Care sessions offered twice a month.

“I absolutely love teaching this class and seeing how much residents truly value setting aside time each week to be creative,” said Beth Williams, art instructor. “I always say art is a healthy hobby. It isn’t about perfection, it’s about what painting does for the soul. I’ve seen residents discover confidence they didn’t know they had, form new friendships, and light up when they share what they’ve created. It’s something everyone can enjoy and succeed at, no matter their age.”

Beth’s artistic journey began decades ago in commercial art, murals, and juried art shows, with her work spanning from Asheville, North Carolina, to Palm Beach, Florida. She has participated in well-known art festivals, including Arti Gras and other regional exhibitions, building a strong foundation as a professional artist before transitioning into teaching. At La Posada, Beth brings this experience to every class, tailoring each session to her audience. Whether on canvas, wine glasses, or other creative surfaces, guiding participants step by step and helping them bring their own unique pieces to life is what her class is all about.

Each class at La Posada draws a loyal group of 10 or more participants who plan their schedules around Painting with Beth. The program has become a must-have part of their weekly routines, and residents eagerly look forward to it each week.

“Art is a part of who I am and a passion I’ve passed on to all three of my children, who are now artists in their own right,” said Beth Williams. “Being able to share that love of art with others, especially seniors, is an incredible feeling. These classes are about so much more than painting. They are about connection, confidence, and giving residents a space to express themselves. When I see someone smile, relax, or feel proud of what they’ve created, I know the class has done what it’s meant to do.”

Research shows that artistic programs like painting can have meaningful benefits for older adults, including enhanced cognitive function, improved emotional well-being, and strengthened social bonds. Engaging in creative activities such as painting helps stimulate memory, decision-making, and motor skills, while also offering powerful stress relief and opportunities for connection with others.
