Palm Beach Allstate volunteers earn $17,000 grant

Volunteers earn grant for Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Allstate agency owners from across Florida recently came together to secure a $17,000 Allstate Foundation Helping Hands® grant to benefit the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The grant will support the nonprofit organization’s mission to empower women and children to create a violence-free world.

The Allstate volunteers earned $17,000 for the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence by collecting much-needed items during a domestic violence nonprofit supply drive throughout November in various cities across Florida including Boynton Beach, Daytona Beach, Deltona, Fort Lauderdale, Haines City, Jacksonville, Jupiter, Orange Park, Pompano Beach, Port Orange, Port Saint Lucie, Saint Augustine and Weston. The following domestic violence nonprofits benefitted from the supply drive donations:

  • Domestic Abuse Council of Volusia County
  • Harbor House of Central Florida
  • Hubbard House
  • Peaceful Paths
  • Peace River Center
  • Quigley House
  • SafeSpace
  • Women in Distress of Broward County

The participating Allstate volunteers are among thousands of agency owners and financial specialists around the country working to strengthen communities by volunteering their time to support the causes they care about most

“As small business owners and community leaders, Allstate agency owners see firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing the communities we serve,” said Jacksonville Allstate agency owner Jolita Ray, who also supports the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Changing Lives program. “Giving back is core to who we are, which is why we’re proud to volunteer and raise funds to improve the lives of people in the state of Florida.”

The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence is one of thousands of organizations this year to receive Allstate Foundation Helping Hands grants secured by agency owners and financial specialists on behalf of the nonprofits where they volunteer. The grants support organizations addressing domestic violence, youth empowerment, disaster preparedness, hunger and other causes.

The Allstate Foundation Helping Hands grants are one example of The Allstate Foundation’s legacy of service and giving for communities and nonprofits across the U.S.:

  • In 2016, The Allstate Foundation contributed more than $25 million to communities across the U.S.
  • Each October, domestic violence nonprofits across the country participate in the Purple Purse Challenge to raise funds for financial empowerment programs for domestic violence survivors.
